A truly special day in the company of the Duchess of Palma, Nicoletta Lanza Tomasi, a direct descendant of Giuseppe Tomasi di Lampedusa, author of “Il Gattopardo”- The Leopard.
A trip to the old city markets which still retain the atmosphere of the Arab souks to buy the necessary ingredients for the cooking lesson.  Once the food shopping is done you will take a pleasant stroll through the city’s historic centre where you can admire some of the city’s major monuments, with a knowledgeable commentary from Nicoletta.
On arrival at the Lampedusa palace, last residence of the famous writer, you will be accompanied on a tour of the building, followed immediately afterwards by a cooking lesson in the palazzo’s kitchen.
Lunch, consisting of the food you have just prepared is eaten in the great State room in the company of the Palazzo’s current owners.
The day trip lasts approximately from 8.30am – 3.30 /4.00pm.

Una giornata davvero particolare in compagnia della Duchessa di Palma, Nicoletta Lanza Tomasi, erede diretta dell’autore del “ Gattopardo” Giuseppe Tomasi di Lampedusa.
Giro agli antichi mercati della città che conservano ancora il sapore dei Suk arabi per acquistare i prodotti necessari alla lezione di cucina; finita la spesa una gradevole passeggiata nel cuore del centro storico, ammirando alcuni dei monumenti  più rappresentativi della città sapientemente illustrati da Nicoletta.
Arrivo a palazzo Lampedusa, visita del palazzo, ultima dimora dello scrittore –e subito dopo in cucina per la lezione
Colazione con quanto preparato nella grande sala di rappresentanza in compagnia dei padroni di casa.
La giornata dura mediamente dalle 8,30 alle 15,30/16

Chiostro di Monreale

Alla scoperta dei magnifici monumenti Arabo/Normanni  di cui Palermo vanta un’inestimabile repertorio:
La particolarissima chiesa di San Giovanni degli Eremiti con le sue rosse cupole ed il chiostro incantato;
Il palazzo dei Normanni, antica reggia dei re Normanni ed in seguito dei Vicerè, con le antichissime stanze di Re Ruggero decorate da incredibili mosaici raffiguranti animali e soggetti floereali e che cela al suo interno quel gioiello che è La Cappella Palatina considerata il massimo esempio dell’arte AraboNormanna.
L’imponente Duomo di Monreale, uno dei siti monumentali più famosi ed ammirati d’Italia interamente decorato a mosaici fondo oro e dominato dall’immensa figura del Cristo Pantocratore.
il tour si svolgerà a piedi durante la mattinata, mentre per il lunch saremo accolti in una delle più esclusive dimore aristocratiche della città – una villa di “ sollazzo” poco fuori dal centro abitato e che vanta la più antica a vasta camera dello scirocco di Sicilia.
Nel pomeriggio si proseguirà alla volta di Monreale.

Questi giardini si trovano in pieno centro storico e sarà quindi cura del nostro accompagnatore illustrare i monumenti che man mano si vanno incontrando
Lunch in uno dei più tipici ristoranti di Palermo, La storica “ focacceria San Francesco”
Villa Niscemi, oggi sede di rappresentanza del comune di Palermo e che si circonda di un romantico giardino all’inglese ( in dipendenza del giorno di visita scelto può visitarsi anche l’interno)
Il Real parco della Favorita e la Palazzina Cinese, costruzione nel tipico stile “ chinois” voluta dai Re Borboni in esilio

1.    Arrival in Palermo and transfer to your Hotel**** in the town’s centre.

Welcome dinner in a historical mansion, one of the most famous “Palazzo” in town where the heirs are still living.

2.    After breakfast, meet your guide  for a walking  visit of the old Historical fresh fruit and food market, one of  the biggest and oldest in Europe. For lunch, we will suggest to have a taste of “popular street food” in a charming “friggitoria”!
In the afternoon, visit of the Botanical Garden and the harbor quarter with its “Piazza marina”
Dinner on your own in local fresh fish restaurant personally selected by Travel Sicilia.

3.    Meet your guide and drive to the medieval town of Erice. Snack on your own tasting typical local delicatessen.
Drive to Marsala to visit  the amazing salt pans and the tiny island of Mothia – At sunset, arrival to Bonagia and cous-cous lesson in noble family  historical summer  mansion where the owner will introduce you to the secret of this old Arab recipe. At the end of the lesson and the dinner, visit to their wine cellar.

4.    Free morning at leisure and shopping – Lunch  on your own in a suggested restaurant. At 03.30 meet your guide for a walking tour to discover more about Palermo – Aperitif and dinner in a charming  Cultural Centre and restaurant  that take place in an historical building  recently restored.
Visit to the Spasimo and its garden in a fascinating atmosphere.

5 Meet your guide  and visit to San Giovanni degli Eremiti Church and its   magnificent cloister  and to the Cappella Palatina . Lunch on your own. After lunch, drive to  Monreale  to discover the magnificent Norman Arab cathedral decorated with golden moisaics.
Aperitif in a suggestive and important “Palazzo” of Palermo, considered one of the most impressive in Sicily, where the famous scenes of the movie “the Leopard” where shut.
Dinner on your own in a suggested restaurant .

Options:  According to the Opera House calendar or the Sicilian Puppet Theatre, it would be interesting to assist to one of those events.

6 Drive to Segesta to admire one of the best preserved Greek Temple in the world. Lunch in a very charming  farm house belonging to an old aristocratic family.
The origins of this family can be traced back to the XIII century.
The present owner attends to grape-growing in his vineyards extending over about 100 hectares.
Surrounded by green hills entirely cultivated, you will have a genuine lunch and wine tasting of the
farm wines and oil and again you will come in touch with the famous Sicilian welcoming.
Back to hotel – dinner  on your own in a suggested restaurant .

7 Meet you guide  to complete your tour of Palermo – Visit to Villa Niscemi and the Chinese Palace, an “exotic folly” built for the pleasure of the Borbon King. –  Lunch at Mondello’s local restaurant right  on the beach.  Back to hotel and time for leisure.
Farewell dinner in a historical “Palazzo” of the 19th century surrounded by rich collections of precious objects and important  furniture.
